Questions & Answers

Q:  Why did you build the heart center?
A:  The demand for cardiac care is expected to continue to grow over the next 15 years as the population ages.  Lakeview Heart Center will meet that demand by providing more convenient access to cardiac care to the more than 100,000 people living in the Stillwater area and western Wisconsin.

Q:  Who will run the heart center?
A:  Cardiologists from St. Paul Heart Clinic, working in close partnership with your primary care provider, will staff the Lakeview Heart Center.  Although the heart center will be located within Lakeview Hospital, St. Paul Heart Clinic will provide appointment scheduling and nursing support.

Q:  If I transfer my care to the Lakeview Heart Center, can I keep the same cardiologist?
A:  You may be required to change cardiologists, but once you have changed physicians, you will be able to establish a new ongoing relationship with another cardiologist associated with St. Paul Heart Clinic.  From then on, much of your care will occur at the Lakeview Heart Center.

Q:  What about hospital or critical care?
A:  Lakeview Hospital will have a new ICU/CCU with 13 beds devoted to critical care just adjacent to the Lakeview Heart Center.  Lakeview Hospital also provides hospitalist service 24/7 in its critical care unit.

Q:  Where exactly is Lakeview Heart Center?
A:  The new heart center is located within Lakeview Hospital, 927 Churchill Street, Stillwater, MN.  From Highway 36, take Greeley Street north appropriately one-half mile to Churchill Street.  The Lakeview Hospital campus is on your right.

Q:  Where do I park?
A:  Parking is free in the ground level parking lots adjacent to the hospital, as well as, dedicated parking near the heart center entrance.

Q: What if I need treatment that is not currently available at Lakeview Heart Center?
A: Patients requiring specialized or complex services will benefit from the expertise offered through United Hospital in St. Paul.

Q: I am a current St. Paul Heart Clinic patient. Will there be an interruption in my current treatment if my records are transferred?
A: No. All medical records are available electronically at any of the three locations in St. Paul, Maplewood and now in Stillwater.

Q: What types of diagnostics and procedures will be done at the Lakeview Heart Center?
A: A wide range of services including consultative, EKG, Holter and event monitoring, cardiac ultrasound, exercise echocardiography, nuclear imaging, etc.

Q: What is United Hospital’s role in this partnership?
A: United Hospital is a strong partner in the Lakeview Heart Center.  As one of the top cardiac care providers in Minnesota, United will provide treatment for advanced cases which require procedures such as angiograms or open heart surgery.

Q: Who are the cardiologists and doctors at Lakeview Heart Center?
A:  Dr. Richard Brody is the lead cardiologist for Lakeview Heart Center. Dr. Brody is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a diplomate (board certified) in both internal medicine and cardiovascular disease (cardiology).  His clinical interests include all modalities of cardiac ultrasound, nuclear imaging and office-based cardiology.
